Victim-survivors of child abuse by clergy have had an extremely rough week as their experiences are brought to the surface.

Survivors of sexual abuse by religious figures suffer injuries beyond the abuse itself. Injuries to their faith, their connection to family and community and God; all these are damaged when their religious leaders abuse them, disbelieve them or act against them, putting their reputation above wounded children.

“The power faith gives religious organisations to enable and protect abusers is incredibly strong. Faith can be so controlling, you don’t have a right to choose what the church does or what you think is right, you just have to do what you’re told. But then the abusers use that faith to keep you silent."They use your faith against you and everyone who might believe you to make sure the perpetrators, not the children, are kept safe.

The victim and cardinal himself cannot both be telling the truth, but if even a unanimous verdict by a jury is not enough to make the victim believable, how can any victim feel safe in speaking about their abuse? For all the thousands of people who were given none of these things before the Royal Commission, watching this play out in the news can be deeply retraumatising. This retraumatising is not limited only to people who survived abuse by priests.

It is not only people who were sexually abused by clergy who are suffering, she says. “It’s not even confined to sexual abuse. It’s very normal to feel retraumatised by this, even if your abuse was physical, emotional or neglect.”

The world is run by savage men who want total control over women’s (even child women) bodies no matter the cost. Pell, Saudi Arabia, this kind of shit shows this. Last decade over 4,000 laws in america passed to control women’s bodies. Laws to control guns? Zero. Say no more. Unthinkable horror! That poor child!

Outrage after rape victim, 11, forced to give birthAn 11-year-old rape victim in Argentina has been forced to deliver a premature baby by caesarean section, sparking outrage in the predominantly Catholic country. A c-section is not as bad as being killed. You shouldn’t kill innocent people to solve your problems. While evocative and compelling, on the surface, this article leaves a lot of information missing for anyone with a rational mind to come to a reasonable conclusion. Please do better at providing more information. But why does the child have to die? The eleven year old will recover.

The suffering of Omid: How a burns victim died despite injuries that were 'very survivable'It took two days for Omid Masoumali to die. Suffering burns to more than 57 per cent of his body, he had the initial diagnosis of a scold and was treated on a baby's cot in a dirty, old hospital with mould on the walls, an inquest hears. So where was Dutton in efforts to prevent this avoidable death? Ranting no doubt about the threats refugees pose to Australia while avoiding any sign of empathy for a dying man in Australia’s care. This was a self inflicted suicide something that about 58 Australians do every week.

'My son went through hell': Family of Pell victim speak outThe family of one of the boys abused by George Pell have spoken of their disgust, while police tasked with investigating his crimes reveal the difficulties they faced dealing with the Catholic Church. Sadly it's been like this in the Roman Church for a long long time. So glad they are speaking out. They deserve a national medal. Where is front page with Bill and ScoMo congratulations them and lauding them as national hero’s? Oh, forgot, they are not footballers, etc etc very sad. Bill? Where are you? Listening? The church, politicians & RWNJ’s of the media & their hysterical screeching about this has been profoundly shocking and creepily horrifying. There, right there, is the entitled hatred of anything ‘other’ than their privileged selves. May all voters watch closely auspol

Father of dead Pell victim thanks son's friend for 'guts to come forward'At the funeral for one of George Pell's victims, a young man approached the grieving father and asked if he could get a copy of the choral music being played. The music was of significance, the young man said, because he also sang in the St Patrick's Cathedral choir. Institutional abuses of our vulnerable and those in positions of Power like Pell should suffer consequences far beyond what the average person is charged with . Is this the same 'victim' who kept insisting the alleged offence never took place? And whom repeatedly declined to file a complaint? Whom police never interviewed? And who never testified in court? That one? Asking for a friend...

This is like the fifth dog-attack story I've read in the last few weeks. Not just in Australia, but elsewhere as well, where several people have even died from their injuries. Are dog-attacks just getting reported more for some reason or are dogs finally mounting their rebellion?
