Burger chain McDonald’s has stepped up to help those struggling to buy basics in the coronavirus crisis, offering groceries at the drive-thru.

“Our contactless service removes any need for touch contact between our employees and customers, making it a safe way for people to get food and drinks, as well as these essential basics.”

It said the move was part of its “commitment to continue to support local communities during these uncertain times.” Customers will be able to pick up a two litre bottle of milk at the golden arches. The US franchise is one in a number of shops and restaurants that has been forced to change the way it operates to deal with the coronavirus crisis.Australia has seen more than 4500 cases of coronavirus so far with 19 deaths.
