Concerns raised over ADF personnel caught up in 'trial by media' over Afghanistan allegations | Sky News AustraliaVeterans Affairs Minister Darren Chester has raised concerns about the welfare of any person who has been caught up in a “trial by media” over an independent inquiry – conducted by the ADF inspector general – into Afghanistan allegations. \n\nABC allegations concerning the war in Afghanistan - and claims a Afghan prisoner was murdered in 2012 - were rejected by retired Special Forces Commander Heston Russell, who said the special forces community were being 'hogtied' without the capacity to defend themselves. \n\nHe told Sky News while special forces members were looking forward to the report, they would “like to see the inquiry report as soon as they possibly can so they have the chance to clear their names, if the case may be, or further defend the allegations made”. \n\nMr Chester said the inquiry was complex as it was dealing with reported incidents in foreign countries and some which occurred more than a decade ago. \n\n“What concerns me is the interface, I guess, where the inquiry hasn’t reported yet, but allegations are now being made public that clearly have come from some of the investigations which have occurred to that independent process,” he said. \n\n“I can understand why the media is interested in this story, it is in the public interest. \n\n“We’ve just got to make sure though that we show our serving men and women the respect that they deserve, that we are talking about a small number of people, from the allegations I’ve seen, and there are literally thousands of Australians who have served with distinction in this last 20 years.” \n But no concern about the actual alleged war crimes 🤷‍♂️ they shamed all in this nation ,the SAS and ADF can get stuffed Yet trial by Herald Sun is usually OK?
