Worse before it gets better: East coast deluge to intensify over the weekend, but the rain could ease just in time for Mother's Day lunch
Rain is expected to ramp up from Thursday through Monday for the east coast, with the heaviest falls forecasted for this weekend, particularly along the southern half of the NSW coast. Sky News Australia Meteorologist Rob Sharpe said the low-pressure system had already started crossing over from central Australia and will reach coastal NSW and Victoria over the weekend.
“It’s quite likely there will be wet weather, particularly in the morning, but by Mother’s Day afternoon the weather should be improving.”Mr Sharpe said the Illawarra could experience flash flooding, with some areas even possibly reaching the minor flooding level – but he doesn’t anticipate a major flood event.“There’s still a chance each day for wet weather next week but it’s not looking as likely,” Mr Sharpe said.
