Somewhere between Stockholm and Sydney, the world's only female competitor in the gruelling sport of solid lance jousting lost her shining armour

, the world's only female competitor in the gruelling sport of solid lance jousting lost her shining armour.

Usually Ms Andersson wears around 30 kilograms of her German Gothic shiny armour, a replica of that used in 1480, forged to fit her tiny frame for a cost of around $20,000. But her precious cargo has been misplaced, with organisers of the fair hoping it lands before the 15,000 jousting buffs descend on the St Ives Showground for the Australian leg of the three-part 'tournament of the saints' world series.

Fortunately, her helmet and shield flew in carry-on this trip, transported by her faithful squire and former husband Frederick Egemalm. "I am the only woman in the world competing, this is my second year doing it here in Sydney, and yes it is terrifying, I'm s... scared," she said. But like a knight throwing down the gauntlet she'd challenge anyone interested in the sport, which has often left her bruised but with no broken bones.
