The man tipped to succeed Usain Bolt as Olympic 100-metre champion in Tokyo next year, Christian Coleman, is banned for two years for missing drug tests.

Coleman missed two visits by sample collection officials and failed to file correct information on another occasion, all in 2019 — the year he won his first world title. That cleared him to take gold in the individual 100m and 4x100m relay and established him as favourite to win titles at the Tokyo Olympics, which have been postponed to next year because of the coronavirus pandemic.Christian Coleman , finished behind Justin Gatlin in the 2017 world championships, ahead of Usain Bolt.

Coleman previously wrote in his blog that his third and decisive whereabouts failure — on December 9 last year — occurred when drug testers showed up at his residence while he was Christmas shopping.
