Woolworths has introduced a dedicated shopping hour for the elderly and those with disability. The decision comes after panicked shoppers stripped shelves of goods amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
Panic shopping meant many vulnerable people missed out on essential items in the frenzy. From Tuesday until at least Friday, supermarkets will open exclusively for the elderly and those with a disability from 7am until 8am where permitted. Image: News Corp Australia

I prefer the way one lg supermarket chain here in L.A. Calif is dealing with this. Open 8am-8pm, limiting of shoppers allowed in at a time. No wait for seniors. This is better in case a senior cant make it to a store during a senior hr. or hrs. No lines now at cashiers.

Great, wife and I work, when do we get a chance to buy? Twice when I’ve been 2 the shops in the last 2 weeks the stores been empty. I live in the country, there are 2 Woolies with in a 50klms radius and both are empty. Should my toddlers, my wife and I suffer because we work?!

Only works if the stores were re-stocked overnight. Oldies at Mount Eliza greeted by empty shelves. First delivery truck arrived 7.15am. Second at 7.30am. Oldies wasted their time.
Uhm.. what about the people who didn’t panic buy, we’ve been left short. I have a 16 year old son who’s finally growing and needs to eat. Hope at some stage I can get some meat, fruit and vegetables. Maybe when everyone else has no room left in their fridges and freezers🙄
