UnitingCare Australia national director Claerwen Little said the payment will help women to access some of the essentials needed to create a safe home for themselves and their children.
This is AMAZING! I secretly squirrelled money away when I prepped to leave, but we were lucky to make it out in one piece. My concern is that women leaving a non-violent relationship might exploit it. There’s nothing like false claims to destroy a positive step like this.

geoffrey_payne Sounds great in theory, but with only $1500 available in cash, the rest has to go through government protocols to access. Meaning 1) extreme pain and difficulty, 2) potential for a landlord etc to have more insight into circumstances than they ever should have.
