Since police began an operation on Christmas Eve targeting driving offences, NSW roads have recorded two deaths, 177 prescribed concentration of alcohol charges and 228 major crashes.
Police arrived to find the vehicle in a ditch, and the 36-year-old sole occupant of the car returned a positive result to a subsequent breath test.On the same day, a 25-year-old P-plater was allegedly caught driving a Nissan X-Trail at 148km/h on the Castlereagh Highway at Walgett. Police stopped the vehicle in nearby Short Street, where the 31-year-old male driver returned a negative breath test, but his drug test returned a positive detection to cannabis.
The other death occurred when a vehicle, which was being pursued by police, struck a power pole on Eastwood Road, Leppington on Thursday.
Surely 228 major crashes are enough to call for a complete lockdown on driving
I am visiting the Northern Rivers coastal areas,. And I have not seen one police presence, anywhere. Beats me how this article has any credibility. Up in Qld there are police everywhere.
