Woman hit by ute dies at McLaren Vale, man taken to hospital

A woman has been killed and another pedestrian was injured when they were hit by a ute at McLaren Vale south of Adelaide last night.The woman was killed at the scene while the man has non-life-threatening injuriesPolice and paramedics were called to Victor Harbor Road, near the intersection of Seaview Road, about 11:10pm.A man, also aged 59 and from the same suburb in Adelaide's west, was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 78-year-old man from Willunga who was driving the Holden ute was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.They have asked anyone who saw the two walkers in the area around the time of the crash to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.In a separate incident on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula, police said a drink driver has lost his licence after allegedly being caught more than twice the legal alcohol limit.

The 62-year-old Port Lincoln man was stopped in King Street about 8:00pm and breath-tested, allegedly returning a reading of 0.110. He received an on-the-spot loss of licence for six months and his car will remain impounded for 28 days.
