Chukwuebuka Kasi Obiaku, 34, met the retired civil servant on Facebook and persuaded her to go to Nigeria where he extorted $US48,000 from her.
The police spokesman said Obiaku was an “internet fraudster” who has “defrauded many people locally and internationally”. Nigerian scammers often use the internet to dupe their victims by promising them non-existent jobs, marriages or business opportunities.The victim, who has not been identified, was rescued by a Police Intelligence Response Team of the Ogun State Annex.
