A young woman allegedly attacked by a man purporting to be a rideshare driver convinced him to drop her outside a police station in suburban Melbourne, but found it closed when she went for help.
Victoria Police said officers responded to the incident within seven minutes of the request from triple zero arriving about 3.10am.Police said officers on Monday arrested a 28-year-old man in Footscray. The South Yarra woman was not physically injured. “The decision to close reception counters overnight was made so we can have police out in the community preventing crime, rather than staffing reception counters that are rarely attended.”
