Greens MP Amy MacMahon's was seriously injured after Rani Lowry ran a red light in Brisbane last month.

Lowry was driving at more than 80km/h in a 60km/h zone and a passenger asked her to slow down before the February 12 incident, police allege.South Brisbane Greens MP Amy MacMahon outside her state electorate office in 2023.

Greens MP Amy MacMahon was rushed to hospital after a Hyundai i30 collided with her Toyota Prius in the Brisbane suburb of Kangaroo Point on February 12, 2024. Witnesses also allegedly saw Lowry's Hyundai i30 run a red light at an intersection before MacMahon's Toyota Prius was struck on the corner of Baines Road and Main Street in Kangaroo Point.MacMahon was taken to hospital in a serious condition following the crash.

She has since left hospital but has indicated she will not be returning to state parliament for some time as she recovers from her injuries. Lowry was charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and appeared at a brief hearing in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
