A woman who was left fighting for life following an alleged domestic assault has tragically died in hospital from her horrific injuries.

Police were alerted to an incident about 12.30pm on Monday after paramedics transported Cherry Gerente-Ogar, 37, to the Wallaroo Hospital.Ms Gerente-Ogar died in hospital on Wednesday, police said.Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

Antony Ogar, 58, has been charged with assault causing serious harm, but police say his charges are expected to be upgraded to murder. The Yorke Peninsula man faced a magistrates court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody to reappear in December.Get your political briefing from news.com.au's political editor Samantha Maiden.
