Professor of epidemiology Mary-Louise McLaws says wider usage of the rapid antigen COVID test across multiple sites of transit will make international travel safer.

“You test them before they even hop on the plane, you test them when they arrive,” she told Sky News host Chris Smith. “Then you test the staff at the end of every shift.” Professor McLaws said travellers from “low-risk countries” could have shorter quarantine times, but says they need to be tested up to the eighth day of quarantine. “This way you could use a rapid antigen test to test them maybe every second day up to day eight. If they’re negative, let them do a PCR and let them go home.
