Death statistics from the flu versus Covid expose a brutal truth – we need to start treating Covid like the flu and try to move on.

The trouble is it’s not infection that’s stuffing up our lives, but the mandated isolation and disruption which comes with it.

As a novel virus adapts to human hosts it becomes less severe. The virus mutates so it can live and colonize a host for longer periods of time thus ensuring it’s survival. That’s the gist of the story: not to ignore Corona virus family. Beat and treat the virus.

And don't get the booster!!!! Never

Covid is a coronavirus which is a flu! Has everyone lost their minds? Why do you think the flu has been nonexistent for the last two years🤔

I think I’ve found my new trusted news provider, hallelujah! Let’s hear it from 9NewsAUS, 7NewsAustralia, 9NewsQueensland and 7NewsBrisbane.

70% of over 65s have high blood pressure. A 5 year old child riding a bike up a hill can experience systolic blood pressure over 180. I say we mandate hypertension drugs for everyone aged 5 and over. We are all at risk.

The shelves are empty because the people who fill them are off work with covid!

Good article 18 months too late.

Choose the easy road.... flu doesn't mutate

Big Pharma won't make any money aswell as our innocent Politicians will not get there kickback cheques. Don't see that happening..

angleamollard that is a seriously bad take. Not to mention selfish in the disregard as to what would happen to our health care worker heroes.

Finally common sense

Look who’s waking up. So why are people still getting fired?

“In fact in 2017 the Australian Bureau of Statistics reports that 1255 died from the flu. Covid deaths over two years stand at 2387” “Outstanding” analysis - we went through extraordinary measures to keep COVID deaths that low…

This is so obvious. It’s been obvious for more than a year. Actually, in 2018 more died of flu than now of Covid. And that’s the bottom line: deaths. Not even 2000 out of 26 million in 2 years.

Nope.

No shit Sherlock

Absolutely, no disputing figures have not changed in two years. 98% recovery pre covid vaxxin.... 98% recovery post covid vaxxin...

this article is misleading and dangerous. the article sound like antivaxers propaganda. COVID19 CovidKills

Check out this raging Qanon Conspiracy Theorist AntiVaxxer! 🤡 Pfizergate PfizerCEO

Haven't had the flu for many years, can't remember when l had it last.Yes l am vaccinated but you can't say the same about covid.

This meme was going around twitter exactly a year ago, of course it's just another conspiracy theory

That says it all…

Australia was THIRD HIGHEST in the world for covid deaths today

It’s flu, only WHO named it Deadly .

Omg common sense at last

I guess if people still believe this bullshit and are worried they can continue to get their booster shots and wear their masks. Time to get on with life, without the government in it.

“Of course there will be deaths just as there are with the flu. In fact in 2017 the Australian Bureau of Statistics reports that 1255 died from the flu. Covid deaths over two years stand at 2387. “ — nonsense, if compare, should under same conditions.

Health system is clogged supply chains screwed.. and you write an opinion article about living with it? ... Take your rose coloured glasses off ... Stop snorting drugs and go live a little in the community and see living with it has screwed everyone

Reported as misleading health information

Cannot compare the statistics as the controls were completely different. How many deaths from the flu would have occurred had we locked down, stop travel etc. etc.

have we already treat it as flu and got fxxked?

About time

Nope. Try to keep up, Pravda.

angelamollard this is crap. Disgusting. Have you been to the hospitals lately?

The frightening thing is that almost 20% of our bed-wetting population want us to stay locked up…

Finally some common sense

Murdoch media coming in to try to take the heat off Morrison’s shit government.... classic move. 0/10

Article is so poorly written it’s embarrassing ‘Because just as none of us can’, ‘Errant irritant’ WTF? Was angelamollard smoking weed when she wrote his shit? Then goes on about ‘free PCR’ and RAT tests so we can quickly discover infection- as if they’re available. dumbass

Yes! Finally starting to make sense! Now stop mandates and restrictions and lets move on

You cant because there is flu vaccine to ensure transmission net is much smaller You have no vaccine against Omicron, it means mass no of people have running nose, cough and advised to rest. Hence truck drivers , essential health workers are on sickies. This is very clear.

No shit

Murdoch media at its finest. angelamollard when you were growing up hoping to be a journalist did you ever think you’d be writing fake propaganda garbage that is actual misinformation and dangerous. Shame on you. How did you get to this point?

This journo should be sacked. Over 700k have died in America from covid, pretty sure that beats any flu stats. Reason why Australia’s is so comparable with the flu is because of our leading vaccine rates and long lock downs.

Yeah fuck the poor and old, get back out there and die for the economy

What AAA horse sh!t is this? It's not like the flu, you don't get 50000 cases of the flu every day. Start listening to the experts and not bs.

Isn't half the world locked down though? what would happen if everything was normal everywhere what would the stats be then? I have no idea myself just curious?

I agree with this opinion - but only if the modelled ‘peak’ which is expected to turn in a 1-2 weeks time actually manages to come to fruition.

What about long Covid that is leaving people with long term and possibly permanent disabilities? Treating Covid like the flu just doesn’t stack up!

Except it's not the flu.

The flue doesn’t make you lose your sense of smell and taste.

So what you are saying is that because of the lockdowns and restrictions, we have only just managed to keep the death rates on par with the flu. How do you think those stats would have fared if we treated it like the flu? They are not even remotely the same.

Just curious angelamollard, how many patients in ICU's with the flu currently? It's okay I can wait.

Supply chains and hospitals are crippled but yeah carry on like nothing's happening. What planet is this writer on?

WHO warns against repeated COVID-19 boosters, says too soon to treat COVID-19 like fluCurrent COVID-19 vaccines may need to be reworked to ensure they are effective against Omicron and future variants of the coronavirus, a WHO body says. Surely not? LOL Victoria with zero vaccinations in 2020 1st July 2020 - 11th Oct 2020 = 789 deaths Victoria with 77.5% of population vaccinated 2021 1st Oct 2021 - 11th Jan 2022 = 712 deaths. That reworking occurs every year with the Flu vaccine. 😂😂😂

Why you're less likely to get severe COVID during NSW's Omicron surgeDespite COVID-19 hospitalisations in NSW being at their highest point, the risk of severe disease right now is lower than during last year's Delta outbreak, an ABC analysis finds. lol less likely lol More likely to catch the virus because it is everywhere Not one person will not come into contact with a person with the virus this time round I had contact with 4 people and caught it from a mechanic servicing my car Sorry, off topic. Please read my account before insulting me. I am a pensioner in Russia. I'm asking out of need. I feed stray cats - I can't leave them (I tried, I can't), the pension is small ($250 month), maybe you can help me? maybe cat food? maybe a retweet? Thanks Cats More gibberish from the compromised ABC - the patent numbers ICU in NSW are increasing on a daily basis and that’s that, comparing that to the numbers last year when the vaccine stroll out was just starting is disingenuous garbage.
