Opinion: Why the PM is wrong to push for visits to nursing homes

The Prime Minister and federal Health Minister, supported by Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy, are pressuring nursing homes to ease restrictions on entry to aged care facilities. We all agree that isolating elderly residents, by excluding visitors, is potentially harmful.

Relaxing entry to nursing homes is what we all want. But we need to be prudent and seek reassurance that every possible measure is in place to reduce infections. To be convinced, we should be able to read what information the government has about COVID-19 outbreaks in nursing homes – to see a map and tally board of these infections. Tell us what happened in those nursing homes: how the infections occurred, how they were contained, what is being done to inform other homes, and what are we doing to avoid a repeat of such infections?

Stop this crap, I hate to sound terrible but every one of the people in those pest holes are there to die. They are not on holiday, they are there to die. 12,000 of them die from Alzheimers every damn year, and they are in more danger without visitors than with them

Dammed if you do dammed if you don't

Our PM has absolutely no idea what he is saying, never trusted him, he's botching this now, foolish.

Your opinion is wrong.
