ANALYSIS: Why Queensland will be ground zero for the election campaign

Griffith University political analyst Dr Paul Williams predicted the LNP's nervousness was rightly founded saying the party could face a volatile reception on election day.

Jitters about the Coalition's image in Queensland was a driving factor behind last year's leadership spill, with several MPs concerned Malcolm Turnbull couldn't connect with voters outside the south-east. "Despite what perhaps looked like an early honeymoon and did put a brake on the Labor vote, it seems Scott Morrison and the current leadership is no longer cutting through in regional Queensland," Dr Williams said.

Why politicians throw money at 'shovel ready' station car parksPoliticians love donning hard hat and high-vis to announce extra station car parking. But beyond winning votes, is there any evidence that they're a good idea? Instead of suburban carparks, they could focus on regional stations. If you can't park at one station and drive to the next instead, that makes rather a difference out here. The only reason the the LNP are doing it is to then sell them to their mates like Wilson’s then they will charge you 💯 dollars a week to park there 'analysis of this week’s promise showed about $30,000 would be spent for each new car spot built'. By 'analysis', do you mean $4m divided by 1,333? That's a deep dive analysis right there.

Could wearing makeup in your early 30s be pointless? If your goal is the look younger, the answer may be yes. The POINT! Is to feel good about yourself. The Age. Seriously? Yes.
