A bevy of household names are Queensland candidates vying for a seat in the Senate, but they're unlikely to all secure enough votes to head to Canberra.

Inside a Logan auditorium that usually hosts church services, Campbell Newman is trying to stage a political resurrection. While six Senate seats are up for election in Queensland, only three are considered to be in playIt's a Saturday afternoon in late April and the former Brisbane lord mayor and one-time premier who is seeking to be senator enters the Liberal Democrats official Queensland federal election campaign launch to applause and calls of "Hello, Newman".

"Most politicians' egos would never permit them to go back to being just 'the candidate' after a career as stellar as Campbell Newman's – but he has." "The difficulty under the new Senate system when that happens is that these parties may compete [against] each other and then preferences don't flow between them," he said.

Of the remaining three seats, he said Senator Hanson stood a good chance of regaining one for One Nation.

vanOnselenP What a group of arguably corrupt and ethically challenged creatures.

I guess the bright side we have one useless senator not three

Akin to have to choose between Ebola, HIV or Paraplegia as a lifestyle choice

All our tax payer dollars going to waste to help the fat slob Palmer buy a $40million boat and leave it in Gold Coast.... while tax evading and registering it to Gibraltar. Australia is the wild west

Yay, that's numb nuts festival 👆

I couldn't imagine anyone voting for any of the three . Campbell Newman destroyed the national party in Queensland, before then Clive Palmer pulled out of the national party and Pauline Hanson is a racist .

Well there is 3 time wasters!

Voting Libdems because they the only ones with well thought out policy

Put them together and you wouldn’t get a half wit.

If they’re the best we’ve got, we really are screwed

Clive got into politics cause him and his Chinese investors couldn't get tax to pay workers wages, Pauline voted away apprentices rights to tool allowances allready below the min wage destroying our future, and Newman well look at the lies in qld government allowed Adani in

Turn this into a pay per view cage fight and fix the deficit. My money would be on Pauline.

Seriously we need a republic SPQRAuspol write SPQRA on the federal ballot, boycott the rest, 12 year ostracize for all current and running politicians, out with the old dead wood

F*ck, marry or kill?

Hmmm. Not sure who is worse really.

I Voted for UAP 1
