Why is coronavirus in the Airlie Beach sewage system when nobody is sick?

Dr Mackay said it was understandable the community was worried about this latest detection.But it could also be a sign coronavirus is present in the Airlie Beach community "so more testing is the way to know that".

Because obviously someone has it. Duh.

Airlie is a party town. Shipments are coming in from all over. By sea mostly. Crooks don't care about quarantine zones. Same deal with the Auckland cluster.

The detectors can find old dead traces of the virus and this what they suspect it is. A warning was issued to the community to be vigilant with their hygiene, as they should be anyway. They have lots of visitors from all over. ABC are making up their headlines again.

If it is later revealed that covid was massively exaggerated and the fear and lockdowns caused way more damage then the virus will the ABC be held responsible for their part in it?

There are many possibilities, including visitors, asymptomatics, previously infected (we know people can shed viral particles after being infectious). Positive sewage is an indicator of trouble, not a proof of trouble.
