Sky News contributor Cam Stewart says the World Health Organisation is “clearly not well equipped to make this sort of inquiry” because of its close ties with China.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced that he will only allow an independent inquiry if it is conducted by the WHO. Mr Stewart told Sky News allowing the WHO to conduct the inquiry might be the “only choice” if China was to cooperate.

He said the Trump administration was scathing of the close relationship between China and the WHO and was pushing the international body to reaffirm its independence. “I guess one can only hope that the pressure which the US and Australia and other countries around the world are putting on the WHO, will make them lift their game because it doesn’t seem like the Chinese would let anyone else in apart from the WHO,” he said.

The inquiry will be looking at the WHO, as well. It's obvious the WHO cannot review itself, it makes no sense, that's why the inquiry needs to be independent and unbiased.

What a bunch of idiots. There was just a new election and the chairman was elected by the countries who backed the inquiry of Australia. MurdochCancer

China “agreeing” to an “investigation” by WHO is a joke and shows the need for a new, truly international, non-exclusive health body that is not China Centric. StateDept MOFA_Taiwan

Australia should join the global alliance forming against China | Sky News AustraliaAs countries around the world count their dead and measure the economic fallout of COVID-19, we are seeing the formulation of a global alliance against China, Sky News host Rita Panahi says. \n\nMs Panahi said now was the time, amid an ongoing stoush over barley and beef exports, for Australia to stand up to China. \n\n“If we don't stand up to China now, we never will. There will not be another opportunity for Australia, along with the rest of the free world, to show this dictatorship that it can no longer bully smaller nations into submission,” she said. \n\n“For too long the West allowed China to grow in strength in the mistaken belief that the more we trade with them the more they'll come to embrace our values of democracy, freedom and equality.\n\n“But that has been shown to be nothing more than a naïve fantasy.
