This is where the major parties stand on Indigenous affairs:

The statement called for an Indigenous voice to parliament and a Makarrata Commission, which would supervise a process of"agreement-making" and"truth-telling".To the ire of many Indigenous groups, the Coalition has dragged its feet on these. With first Malcom Turnbull and then Scott Morrison saying the process could create a"third chamber" of parliament.

Labor on the other hand has embraced the ideas of the statement and made it a major point of difference.Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said that, if elected, he would fast track a referendum to constitutionally enshrine the voice to parliament and work with Indigenous Australians to establish a Makarrata Commission.

And Mr Morrison has made one of the Coalition's few Indigenous affairs announcements on the campaign trail.

Would’ve been nice to hear about indigenous affairs in any of the leaders debates. Can’t afford it to be a sideline issue (again)

Love the labor policies.

Why, why is the LNP proposing things for First Nations people now? Haven't they been in power for 6 years? Pretty sure most Aboriginal people recognise pork barrelling when they see it.
