At least 19 Melbourne University students have been accused of general misconduct – a code breach that can be punishable by suspension or expulsion. A spokesperson for the university said on Friday that it would not comment on individual matters for confidentiality reasons.Melbourne University said matters relating to student and staff conduct were being assessed. “The university is in direct communication with individuals as required in relation to these matters,” it said.
Australian Lawyers Alliance spokesman Greg Barns said that university disciplinary action could have long-lasting effects on a student’s future job prospects.
