Queensland families will be able to have picnics outside or enjoy a takeaway meal on the beach from next week, as the state moves to ease some coronavirus restrictions.Buying a takeaway meal and eating it in an outdoor space;Retail shopping for non-essential items such as clothes, where the two-square-metre rule is observed.

However, the outings must be restricted to the members of the same household or up to two people and residents must not venture more than 50 kilometres from home. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has congratulated the people of Queensland for adhering to the coronavirus restrictions, which have successful brought the virus under control in the state.Playgrounds and other play spaces will also remain closed for the time being.

It comes as Queensland records just three new COVID-19 cases overnight, bringing the state's total to 1030.
