April Balascio grew up with a serial killer in the house, though she didn't realise until decades later, when her tip off led to her father being handed two life sentences for murder.

He had been in and out of prison several times, and it continued to be the case as she grew up. At one point he even ended up on the FBI's Most Wanted list for robbery.Murder was his favourite subject, and he would regularly cut out newspaper clippings about local killings and tape them to the walls of their family homes.
