Mathias Cormann has been elected the next secretary-general of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, in a strategic coup for the Australian government.
Cormann emerged victorious – much to the surprise of numerous domestic critics – after a six-month contest pitted him against nine other candidates. _Tors BevanShields Not so sure the OECD has much to do anymore. I think tax.treaties have failed to work so apart from opinions about economic situations its seems quite impotent and more of a notional figurehead.
