The whale, which is now free, is the first to become entrapped in the controversial shark nets this season as whales migrate north.

James Greenfield was working at a construction site at Kings Beach in Caloundra this morning when he noticed "water spurts" and saw the whale struggling in the water."You could see a lot of the shark net buoys wrapped around and it looked like it was pretty tangled."in the controversial shark nets last year, sparking concern from environmental advocates who argue the nets should be removed during the whale migration season.
