Wet weekend: Heavy rain, gusty winds forecast for Sydney on Sunday

Heavy downpours and possible storms are expected to hit Sydney on Sunday, with the wet conditions set to continue into next week while large waves could bring further erosion to vulnerable areas of the Central Coast.Residents of beachfront homes in Wamberal were recently ordered to evacuate for at least a month afterThe sand was eroded by waves coming from a south-easterly direction, generated by a deep low-pressure system.

The wild weather will affect about 500 kilometres of NSW coastline, stretching from Seal Rocks in the north to Ulladulla or Batemans Bay in the south. She said it "looks fairly likely" that a "quite large easterly swell" will develop for southern and central portions of the coast. Ms Woodhouse said any further erosion would be "highly dependent on the direction of the swell", including the strength of the waves and the winds.
