A major South Australian shopping centre has been evacuated on reports of an armed offender, with witnesses saying they were told to “run for your lives”. Emergency services were called to Westfield Marion on Sunday afternoon.
Electronic signs inside the shopping centre warned people of an “armed offender” and advised them to run or hide. Heavily armed police, including some with rifles and riot shields, were seen entering the centre. “Police are aware of an incident occurring at Westfield Marion Shopping Centre,” police said in a statement. “Numerous police patrols are in attendance. “At this point in time, police advise the public to stay away from the area. “A further update will be provided when known.
