Shoppers are gradually returning to Westfield Bondi Junction a week after the stabbing attack that killed six people and seriously injured many more.The premier says the families of the victims are aware of the community support and know they are not alone.
While many businesses — including cafes, department stores and beauty salons — have resumed trade, others remain closed. To date thousands of people have signed the condolence book either in person or online, with many placing flowers at the outdoor memorial.Australian Retailers Association chief executive Paul Zahra said it would take some time before the shopping centre completely returns to normal.
"I feel sad, people lost their life. I tried not to come to Westfield but I still decided to come and have a look … just trying to feel it basically," she said.Two young men said they no longer felt safe.
