|FULL SPEECH: Joe Biden says he will lead America out of "this season of darkness" and will take control of the COVID-19 pandemic as he accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for US president. Speaking on the final day of the Democratic National convention, Mr Biden emphasised hope over division and vowed to bring out "the best of us, not the worst." "And make no mistake, united we can and will overcome this season of darkness in America," he said.
"We will never get our economy back on track, we will never get our children safely back in school and we will never have our lives back until we deal with this virus. "We will make the medical supplies and protective equipment that our country needs and we will make them here in America so we will never again be at the mercy of China or other foreign countries in order to protect our own people.
