The federal government has refused to back down against China after the country imposed tariffs on Australian goods. 9News

"It is troubling that some countries are using the pandemic to undermine liberal democracy to promote their own more authoritarian models. It comes as a government senator has called for Australia to slap tariffs on Chinese imports and consider seizing state-owned assets in retaliation for coronavirus.

Under her reparations plan, Chinese state-owned assets including the Darwin port could be liquidated or seized before being refloated or sold. "On the collective international front, given closer economic ties between the Five Eyes and indications given by President Trump and Secretary Pompeo that China must pay, the possibility of international action should be considered."

Great stand up to this belligerent Nation. A poor example of a global neighbour 💋💋

Scott finally doing it right. Don't give in to bullies

Impose more tarrifs on them, don't let them dictate to us what they will & won't import & or export, cut them off from our supply chain

Balancing of Power is the key to be survive for the international trading

Australian jobs matter say no to China. Restart making Australia great again

Good...it is time to halt the theft, corruption and expansion of a system that lies, cheats and steals from those who have believed wrongly that China would play by the rules and be a positive to the rules based order...prepare for war.

Australia 🇦🇺 stand up our pride 9newdaus

Thankyou, great to hear, we don’t want anything to do with this despicable regime,

Found - the weapon Australia is using to bring China 'to heel' !

They going to stop taking our baby formula?

Any chance the government wants to make Trump accountable as well?! There was no blame game during Ebola. Oh that's right, Obama worked with counties to contain rhe spread and didn't threaten to shoot his people. White privilege at its best, choosing which nation to go after.

Good on the government, it’s our best move. Other countries will be happy to buy our exports. Not many are too keen on China atm anyway

Bring it on 'CHINA' Aussies won't back down and be bullied and intimidated. No more baby formula for you guys! Suck that up 'CHINA'

Nor should owe.. But the singling out on China our Largest Trader will mean Australia will buckle.

👍 Australia

China is our largest trading partner,How replace China? What is the solution? Can populism create jobs for us? Can populism keep our house? When you run out of Super, will the government have money to supplement?

Unless u don’t have a job, otherwise there is no reason to cheer for this, because this means Australia business will sink even more

Let's see if they do actually keep their word and investigate everything thoroughly.

Well we are fvcked then arent we. What the fvck was that FTA we cut with China for again? More jobs? Like the one with the UK they are spruiking now? Couldnt sell ice in Egypt and couldnt sell heaters to eskimos. We are trade novices.

Fuck China, they are the cancer of the world!

Our Australian government is just a puppet to the US anti China rhetoric which will hurt us and only serve US interests.

Hope to see the war! Australia is never afraid of war. We should actively invade them!

Send troops to India, you signed a defence pact

Stop importing Chinese goods, simple...

They refused to back down over robodebt too. That resulted in a lot of hardworking honest Australians, dead. Though, you keep trying to pretend that isn't an issue.

We will not back down !

Good on Scott Morrison government 👍

Iron ore Lng Bauxite Coal On the list ?

I hope this isn't a racist attack on poor old China:-)
