'We've got no beds': Brisbane interstate flight passengers forced to quarantine on Sunshine Coast

Brisbane's hotel quarantine system is under increasing pressure to meet surging demand, with a shortage of beds forcing some domestic travellers to undergo hotel quarantine on the Sunshine Coast instead.Greg Hefferan was one of several airline passengers sent from Brisbane to quarantine in CaloundraThe QPS said there had been increased demand for quarantine accommodation in Brisbane

Mr Hefferan had been temporarily working in Sydney and decided to return home given the outbreak of the highly transmissible Delta variant and subsequent lockdowns in Greater Sydney. "I think it was a little bit more frustrating later once they'd done the processing a couple of hours later, when they said, 'Is there a possibility you could quarantine at home?'

The Queensland Police Service said "a number" of passengers were sent to the Sunshine Coast from Brisbane.
