Less than an hour after Latrell Mitchell confirmed two more years at Souths, their skipper Adam Reynolds expressed disappointment in the club’s latest offer.

A premiership-winning halfback with one of the most lethal right boots in the game, Reynolds, 30, would love to play on another three or four years, and can not recall feeling better - physically and mentally - this far out from the season proper.

“But for me I want the security, I’ve got four kids, I still feel I’ve got a lot of good footy left in me. One year doesn’t suit me much at the moment.″⁣ Reynolds has one of the best kicking games, is rock-solid in defence and forged a brilliant combination with Cody Walker.Souths boss Blake Solly said now Mitchell was signed until the end of 2023, the focus would turn to Reynolds, Dane Gagai and Jaydn Su’A, who are also unsigned beyond this year.

This is the 7th year bunnies have stuck by Adam Reynolds since the last GF appearance - not sure an additional 3 to 4 years is realistic. They’ve rebuilt every position around the halfback with State of Origin level players but still no GF appearance.

So she is playing for south's next year. She’s so bloody good I figured Holgate would get snapped up by a major institution sooner rather than later, but if I’m being honest I didn’t see her signing for Souths.

Why Souths are reluctant to grant Reynolds long-term dealSouth Sydney have no appetite to grant Adam Reynolds his four-year contract wish after a similar long-term deal for another senior player, Sam Burgess, left the club millions of dollars out of pocket | SMHsport SMHsport Yea but Reynolds isn’t a c u nt. SMHsport Makes you wonder how many crimes they've covered up for Reynolds if they fear he'll be just like Sam... SMHsport Why not a standard work contract whereby if you get laid off you get 2 weeks redundancy pay for every year you worked there. Good enough for ordinary Australians.
