A startling online map shows why Australia has a reputation that should concern us all. And it’s emerging as an unlikely election issue. AusVotes19 auspol

“I have travelled this country really extensively, and everything is just being squeezed,” says Aussie Ark general manager Tim Faulkner.conservationist of the year is calling for a “complete overhaul of our legislative system” when it comes to conservation efforts and wants to see a greater emphasis placed on results rather than research and bureaucratic process.

Feral pests account for a huge amount of mammal loss in this country, and while he admits there is no silver bullet, Mr Faulkner would like to see state and federal governments preserve land for conservation efforts where threatened species can be fenced off from pests. According to the Wilderness Society’s Suzanne Milthorpe, “Successive governments have put ending extinction and protecting their habitat in the too-hard basket.”Climate change has ranked as a top issue among voters this election and warnings over declining biodiversity are putting more pressure on the government, which does not have a good track record on environmental matters.

“There’s been some sincere intentions to try,” Mr Faulkner said. “Appointing the first Threatened Species Commissioner was a good move … the more money the better, but there has to be reform around how the money is spent and the deliverables.”

Stop using children as pawns, cretins. I saw the pictures it looks like the children were taken hostage. Don’t vote for the dinosaur. He is genuinely clueless. Past his use by date. Vote for Zali

'It's demeaning': Those on Basics Card rail against being told how to spend welfare moneyPeople on the poverty line in the NT are battling logistical nightmares and daily shame due to a long-running income management policy — and it's unclear if their lives will change after the election. well dont worry Bill will soon drop a pile of cash No more basic card n no work test they'd get cash to get d booze There is no point debating the card . Empathy to her as it is always terrible to be let down by others you had some level of trust. But on other hand. You make your own bed. Maybe we should take a point of order from this saga. You have to be smart to run a political party and deserve to live at the top. the bias you lot show is palpable. yet you wonder why we laugh & call you fake news. This is why.
