“Look there’s a claim at the moment which is made by the CSIRO here and AEMO, the Australian Energy Market Operator,” Mr Smith told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“Now, it’s not true – and because of that lie, and it’s a lie, we’re going to delay moving to something that we have to move to which is nuclear because you need a baseload power.”
AlwaysQuestionA We know that
Well Dick Smith have got heard of super heated prine water plants that run 24/7?! We should be looking at next generation power not this dirty power!
'No country ever dragged itself out of agrarian poverty without an Industrial Revolution. And no Industrial Revolution was ever powered by sunshine and breezes.' taxonomy taxonomie EUTaxonomie EUTaxonomy climate
I guess if Bill Gates can be a virus expert, Dick Smith can be a renewables expert. 🤔
I am sorry to see that dementia seems to catching up with sick!
If France is 70% nuclear then we should definitely consider it.
Like trying to calculus to a toddler.
What has he “entrepreneured” since his failed electronics shop and failed fake Vegemite? A more accurate comment would be “Outspoken Dick Agrees with Murdoch.”
As dick smith is virtually part of the liberal party and for 9 years u could not get energy mix right we are hardly likely to listen have u heard of battery storage obviously not the South Australia big battery kicked in when all other power sources failed to deliver that's right
Lol
Since when does Dick Smith's opinion relevant.. FFS
Dick knows
3. as and where it is needed. Independent of weather the Sun is out or the wind blowing. It has a lower carbon footprint than Solar power, Wind- power, Hydro, biomass, and Fossil Fuels, and it’s safer than them too. – “Enlightenment Now” – S. Pinker.
2. Engineers have learned from the accidents and near-misses and have progressively squeezed more safety out of nuclear reactors, reducing the risks of accidents. Nuclear energy is available around the clock, and it can be plugged into power grids that provide concentrated
1. There have been more people killed by Solar Panels than all the Nuclear power accidents in the World’s history, and that was with old Nuclear technology. Nuclear Technology has been developed to a high safety standard which presents incredibly little risk.
If you have to, upgrade the coal fired power stations to HELE standard, as well as your gas fired power stations like this experimental type.
bob_parto The only thing renewals have successfully accomplished is to double the price of electricity for no result
bob_parto HELE standard coal fired power stations, along with small Modular Nuclear reactors are a way of improving electricity supply.
You can decide to publish this nonsense from someone who doesn't understand a modern electricity grid, or, you could quickly check Wikipedia and find that is false because there are 4 countries running on 100% renewable energy and 6 more with 95% RE.
If it comes from Sky, you know it's a lie.
We do not have to start using the most expensive power source
Can't you retweet anything but biased Sky News!!!
I visited a customer last week their monthly power bill is $200,000 a month and they have two sub stations inside the factory, Our heavy industries and cities need real base load power, nuclear is zero emissions real power
Rubbish. Nuclear will take decades to set up, renewables can happen now. New drilling technology can reach more than deep enough to provide the heat to power existing coal turbines in any location in under 4 months. Geothermal power works 24/7 and is incredibly stable.
So lets invest in a start up solution we know will take 20 years to complete rather than continue with a solution proved to work within a few years
Knowable info. From. Day. One.
Has Rupert been buying shares in nuclear? You guys seem to be fixating.
Every industrialised country needs baseload power. Solar cells and nature's farts cannot provide baseload. Europe has been forced out from behind the facade of a renewable future by Russia cutting off its 'fossils' - ouch.
Don't always agree with Dick... But he's right about this. Won't be any reductions in emissions with out nuclear
Clever Dick
Of course renewable are unreliable but they fill so many pockets in Labour and Green parties. What can go wrong with that?
Dick Smith if you are that concerned did you make a submission this government report on the nuclear industry in 2019? There were 360 public submissions.
Did Dick?
There are now small modular nuclear plants that are safer and can be put side by side. They are built in a factory, then taken to the site.
The country needs to have a serious discussion about using nuclear power
There's nothing wrong with coal-fired power stations!
Amazing the amount of people that actually think wind, solar & billion dollar batteries can run a country. 🤣🤣
Kew that Aready About renewable whatsvthe difference from us using Coal Power....as even though we are selling it ,it's still Polluting so they say....I Believe in looking after the ENVIRONMENT but not that way.
And when we get nuclear. Windmills and solar panels will just rot and be landfill.
Derr!!
They are junk.
Reality will eventually have its day.
Whatever energy source we choose it has to be affordable and reliable or we might as well not have it
Ah yes Dick Smith the energy policy specialist
Barnaby_Joyce can be Homer. MakeNewEnglandglow
senatorbabet Well fook me… never thought I’d find common ground with Dick Smith on anything… but there you go!
Scrap renewabmes. Stop supporting self appointed elitists who push them for profit and power. Stop playing their climate change game. Grow a pair. Tell them to get stuffed and push for energy reliability and cost effectiveness now and into the future, beyond the next election.
senatorbabet Yeah …. FO SkyNews aka BS sky creative … and FO Dick Smith. You’ve had your day.
I’d rather renewable gases, blue hydrogen and regular gas than nuclear.
Baseload power, the Liberal Party lie.
No shit
