'We have an obligation to keep fighting': Labor faces an open field leadership contest l srpeatling

The Labor Party faces at least a three-way leadership contest in the wake of Saturday night's election loss with senior frontbenchers Anthony Albanese and Chris Bowen to join deputy leader Tanya Plibersek in a ballot to be decided by the party's members and caucus.

Chris Bowen, Anthony Albanese, Tanya Plibersek are likely Labor leadership contenders, while Tony Burke is said to be considering running.Ms Plibersek, who is also the party's education spokeswoman, confirmed on Sunday morning she was considering running for the leadership after outlining her thoughts on why Labor was defeated on Saturday.

"We have an obligation as Labor Party people to keep fighting for a fairer Australia, for a strong economy and a fair society."when he conceded the party had lost the election. Some inside the party have questioned whether Mr Bowen is too damaged by his close association with the party's tax and franking credits policies which the Coalition campaigned against so effectively.Mr Albanese, who ran against Mr Shorten for the Labor leadership in 2013, will hold a press conference later this afternoon to announce his candidacy.

srpeatling Not that 4 instead just P Y

srpeatling We shouldn't be making fun of them now. They need some space and time to do some soul searching and stop relying on issues that appear popular and progressive. Pick one or two issues that impact the majority and have a detailed plan to solve them. People will start trusting....

srpeatling Grubs

srpeatling It would be churlish of Bowenchris to consider throwing his hat in the ring. He was instrumental in both policy, but also a perception of Labor, that was just rejected by the public. They lost the ‘unlosable election’. He is not the answer.

srpeatling Be a bit smart about the fight, however!

srpeatling What Labor need to do is quite simple... clone Bob Hawke and they win the next election. Cmon you’ve got 3 years for cloning, chop chop.

srpeatling Please do the right thing and select Tania ,she has earned the position

srpeatling ScottMorrisonMP should send thank you cards to jackietrad AnnastaciaMP and BobBrownFndn for their fantastic efforts in making AdaniAustralia a big election winner for the Libs. Excellent efforts, please keep it up! AustraliaDecides AusVotes2019

srpeatling Albo

srpeatling Standby for a fabulous display of the 'Labor team unity' 🍿🍿

srpeatling I'm a ex Labor voter and will never vote for these fools ever again! If Libs do wrong I find another alternate. Labor is extreme lest. Too much focus on these extreme ideas. So TOUGH TITTIES!

srpeatling Charisma completely eludes this mob! Next please!

srpeatling Not knowing the rules, but can a senator be allowed to put their name forward? Kristina Keneally perhaps?

srpeatling Get a woman into the top job. The blokes can't seem to get it over the line.

srpeatling No more detailed policies, please. Just marketing spin, like Morrison did.

srpeatling Seriously is that all they have. Wow that's sad isn't it.

srpeatling A real plan to tackle climate change? Did they not learn anything?

srpeatling Learning nothing...

srpeatling Same old mob rejected three times. 🤔

srpeatling Albo is the only one in this group with any credibility.

srpeatling . Tanya Plebiscite should keep them in the wilderness for a while. Penny Wrong would keep them there forever.

srpeatling Plerbasek thinks Africa is a 'country'......... she's my hero and a real asset to the Libs🤣🤣🤣🤣

srpeatling Tanya. Although, I think they are all terrific.

srpeatling AustraliaLabor Never give up

srpeatling Chris Bowen comes across well.

srpeatling Like it or not, most people vote on personality. Shorten didn’t come across as trustworthy - he reeked of a rich kid trying to fit in with the poor kids. The only real contender for the Labor leadership is Albo.

Morrison dangles 5pc deposit for first home buyers, before Labor matches policyThe Morrison Government and Labor agree on a plan to lower the deposit threshold for first home buyers to five per cent. Old school political election nonsense and lies this crap is Morrison dangles. 🤣🤣🤣 The LNP campaign has been long on rhetoric, fear, uncertainty and doubt, and pork-barrelling specific electorates, but very short on a policy platform. The fact is, if the LNP was seriously committed to their new policies they'd have introduced them in the past 6 years.
