Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett has revealed there’s a chance star prop Thomas Flegler won’t play again due to a shoulder injury.
The club gave an update a fortnight ago, confirming Flegler had suffered “a genuine nerve injury” but “it’s almost certain he will not require surgery.” The 24-year-old was also given a four-week time frame in which the club hopes to see further improvements that will help him move closer to getting back on the field.
“It is a long way from where he is fit enough to play. The injury is very serious. He has had the injury and we all know what the consequences are.” Te Kura suffered a Lisfranc injury in Queensland Cup last week and will undergo surgery in the coming days. According to the Broncos’ statement, the 20-year-old “will need at least four months of recovery time” meaning his earliest return date could be during finals in September.
