Wayne Bennett has reportedly agreed to join the South Sydney Rabbitohs at the end of the 2024 NRL season. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the 74-year-old master coach has agreed to terms with the Rabbitohs after meeting with club officials on Monday. He is expected to finalise the deal by the end of this week, locking him into a Rabbitohs return, three years after he departed the club.
Bennett had been earmarked by ARL Commission chairman Peter V’landys as a possible coach of an expansion team, with the NRL investigating expanding to a possible 20-team competition, with PNG, Perth and a second New Zealand team all candidates.
