Thirty-five thousand bins will go uncollected and stink up Sydney sidewalks, with the number to set to triple if demands are not met, the union has warned.

Cleanaway workers have gone on strike and refused to collect waste from 35,000 bins across the City of Sydney council area from Tuesday in a bid for better pay.

Transport Worker Union NSW Secretary Richard Olsen announced City of Sydney Cleanaway workers will not collect 35,000 bins starting Tuesday amid a pay dispute. Picture: Transport Workers Union/Facebook Workers have also struggled to secure a pay increase over the past two years ,with the last being a 60-cent rise, according to Mr Olsen.
