The speed with which “deeply regrettable” comments saw the late Queen’s head girl Lady Susan Hussey shown the door at Buckingham Palace speaks volumes about the new-look Windsors. It says Charles is serious about modernising the monarchy. It showcases the utter ruthlessness beneath the royals’ sentiment for tradition.
But none of it counted for anything after British-born charity director Ngozi Fulani tweeted on Wednesday she was “interrogated” at a palace function by Lady Hussey about “what part of Africa” she came from. Fulani said she felt “violated”. She said, “Being invited and then insulted has caused much damage”.
Her podcast drove me nuts. Her simultaneous smugness and “poor me” whingeing makes me want to challenge her to a wrestle. I can’t even bear her fabulous stealth wealth clothes. Still, I’m so up for revisiting with fresh eyes Meghan’s royal racism anecdote, not least because of the position Lady Hussey held.This is a woman who had the ear of QE2 since 1960, who did service for the royals at thousands of posh events, who knew the power of words via her husband’s career.
What the hell has an inter family’s feud got to do with us? Every family has one kid dissatisfied with their lot. And if you’re trying to drag an old lady in her 90’s asking a question of origin of a person who dresses up like she’s from the West Indies or Africa? She’s not!!

The UK has gone mad. That comment/question - enquiring about someone's ancestry - was not racist. It was polite chit-chat but it must have suited the guest to blow it out of all proportions.
