As the World Health Organisation investigates in Wuhan how the pandemic started, a war of words has broken out between China and the US.

But the WHO probe has led to a war of words between China and the United States, with Chinese officials rejecting it’s an investigation.

A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman on Friday flagged the visit as “a part of global research” into the pandemic. In a tweet Thursday, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he had had a “frank discussion” with China’s Health Minister Ma Xiaowei. Scientists agree that the disease has an animal origin and particular focus is on the Wuhan “wet market,” which sells live animals.

Beijing has countered with arguments that although Wuhan is where the first cluster of cases was detected, it is not necessarily where the virus originated. In addition, the Biden administration intends to boost “our staffing on the ground in Beijing, which is something that fell back in the last administration.”SEARCH FOR PATIENT ZERO

The WHO investigation has been hobbled by delays, and there are fears over access and the strength of evidence a year after the virus emerged in the central Chinese city.

Footage of mass cremations shows devastation of India’s war with COVID-19 | Sky News AustraliaHeartbreaking footage from India shows the devastating toll COVID-19 is taking on the country where the dead in New Delhi are burnt in mass cremations using makeshift pyres.\n\nIndia has so far recorded more than 17 million coronavirus cases with almost 200,000 deaths.\n\nOn Monday the country recorded over 352,000 cases and 2,812 deaths. Very sad but this virus will target the vulnerable the less hygienic and the under privileged communities with poor immune systems. God bless all that have lost their lives. This is absolutely shocking, I cried buckets when I first viewed this footage, absolutely shocky, no other words suffice. And therein lies the problem. Dealing with and around people who have died from covid, with nothing more than a mask or bandanna. The rich ones get full ppe, so there is that I suppose.
