In a statement, the Qatar Government Communications Office said the infant was now safe and under medical care in Doha."This was the first instance of an abandoned infant being discovered in such a condition at HIA – this egregious and life-threatening violation of the law triggered an immediate search for the parents, including on flights in the vicinity of where the newborn was found," the statement said.

Eighteen women - including 13 from Australia - on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Sydney were ordered off the plane and into an ambulance on the tarmac where they were The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's first assistant secretary Angela Macdonald first spoke to the ambassador over the phone on October 6.Qatari authorities are currently writing a report into the incident, which is expected to be handed to the Australian government within days."The Australian government has been quite clear about that. There is a series of meetings continuing in Qatar… as late as yesterday in relation to this," she told Senate estimates on Wednesday.

The Australian Federal Police started questioning women on the flight as early as October 4 - and communicated the complaints to the department on that day.

Gallo_Ways I'm not justifying this. Did they at least find the woman responsible?

Gallo_Ways That is vile.

Gallo_Ways No mention of the woman who will face charges of attempted murder? Maybe she's dead.

NewtonMark Gallo_Ways All flights should go via Singapore, Bangkok and the like. Avoid these medieval backwaters. We wouldn't give these despots the time of day if they didn't have oil.

Gallo_Ways Has there been an apology from Doha yet?

Gallo_Ways This is just beyond disgusting

NewtonMark Gallo_Ways And why did it take a Senate Committee for this to be alerted? Why didn’t Marise Payne and her Mandarins scream this from the rooftops - FOUR WEEKS AGO? There you have it Australia. Our women - and girls - can be raped at an airport with impunity. boycottqatar

NewtonMark Gallo_Ways Disgraceful behaviour from the Qatari authorities.

Gallo_Ways This is bullshit .

Gallo_Ways Such vibrant cultures in that part of the world. The people are so warm and welcoming.
