Western Australia Treasurer benwyatt says the unemployment data released on Thursday vindicates his state’s economic response to the pandemic.

Western Australia Treasurer Ben Wyatt says the unemployment data released on Thursday vindicates his state’s economic response to the pandemic. “When you look around the world at the analysis that is being done, a strong response, that is a strong health response is the best economic policy as well,” he said. “That again is being confirmed with today’s unemployment data”.

The Treasurer described Western Australia’s job growth as “very strong” but said the seven per cent unemployment rate was “too high” and needed to be brought down. “The fundamentals of the WA economy are strong, indeed the fundamentals of the Australian economy are strong," Mr Wyatt told the media. “That means we are seeing jobs come back into the Australian system fairly quickly.

benwyatt And how many of those jobs are being supported by job keeper?

benwyatt Sure does. A shame SkidMo and Fraudenberg couldn’t say well done. They just attack borders even though we in WA are powering back

benwyatt the only state in the country not running on pokie machines..lol

benwyatt Dear WA ‘treasurer’, can you please update us to how many ‘new’ jobs were created by the private sector versus public sector (ie - gov’t jobs)? Reason I ask is because govt interference in society (via gov’t spending which is actual taxation ) is the cause of wealth inequality.

‘The strategy is working’: Daniel Andrews highlights record low COVID-19 cases | Sky News AustraliaPremier Daniel Andrews has spruiked his roadmap to recovery and urged Victorians to “stay the course” as case numbers continue to fall across the state. \n\nVictoria recorded its lowest daily increase in cases since June 24 with only 28 overnight infections and eight deaths.\n\n“That is a fantastic outcome and a tribute to the hard work, sacrifice and contribution every single Victorian is making,” the premier said.\n\n“This strategy is working, these numbers are falling and this is exactly what we have to do; stay the course, get these numbers low that is what will keep them low.”\n\nMr Andrews spoke about the health disadvantages of reopening the state prematurely, saying “if we open up when they (cases) are too high, they will just get higher and higher”.\n\n'The message is, regardless of your post, background or circumstances, this virus does not discriminate, and everybody has to play their part”.\n\nHe warned $5,000 on the spot fines would be issued by police to those attempting to move from metropolitan Melbourne to regional areas and additional spot car checks would be introduced. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia Strategy is working? No shit Sherlock. When you shut down an entire city for months on end, a virus will probably stop spreading. If this strategy didn’t work what was next? Welding the doors of people’s homes shut like they did in Wuhan? Moron. The God can play God because Victorians allow him to. Has this loser ever had a “real” job in his entire life?
