Director of Segway Tours WA Belinda Hill says the tourism sector in the state is “really, really struggling” as residents from New South Wales and Victoria are booking Christmas holidays in Queensland and elsewhere amid WA’s border closure.

“We are only surviving on 18 per cent of our normal market,” Ms Hill told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “New South Wales and Victoria - who are not allowed to come in unless they isolate - form a large part of our touring, domestic market, so it was pretty difficult.

“We would love to have freer flow of people from Victoria and New South Wales. “We don’t want to miss the boat, because everyone is booking their tours now, their accommodation. “They’re going to Queensland and everywhere else but WA because they don’t want to quarantine."

Wa premier doesn't think so 🙄

Terrible leader he is choking his state. Thank goodness he has mining or he would be begging like a dog for federal help and maybe would even open the borders to tourism

Herr McGowan should be ashamed, he’s playing politics with people’s jobs and families.

What a load of nonsense, you’re all on an island, locked in together and you can’t get along! Remember the line “we are one” you should be ashamed of yourselves. The old Australia is dead!

Again a premier that does not trust his systems or people to control any transmissions. All you can do is move interstate. 👎

Yes, well this is McGowans prerogative - take it up with him
