WA’s border with NSW on track to move to ‘extreme risk’

Western Australia’s border with New South Wales could move to an unprecedented ‘extreme risk’ category if daily case numbers in the state continue to exceed 500.

WA Premier Mark McGowan said the category would see travel into WA reduced to a handful of arrivals a day. Meanwhile, WA’s border with New Zealand, which recorded a mystery community case on Tuesday, was increased to ‘low risk’ on Wednesday, which means travellers are allowed in but must self-quarantine for 14 days.The New Zealand cluster has grown to seven with genome sequencing linking the outbreak to Sydney, although it is not yet clear who the index case is.
