A man will serve at least two-and-a-half years in prison for setting fire to three police cars after an AC/DC tribute event in Perth.

Dwaine Anthony White, 28, was among more than 150,000 people who attended the Highway To Hell tribute concert along the temporarily shut down Canning Highway in March when he walked onto the road in front of several officers on motorcycles.

The Highway to Hell event in Perth last March. Dwaine Anthony White had a confrontation with police when he walked onto the road. Picture: Paul Kane/Getty ImagesHe later filled a small fuel container at a service station, and CCTV footage that night showed White behind the Fremantle police station where he doused three marked police cars with petrol and then set them on fire.

White claimed he was drunk and had no recollection of what happened but turned himself in after seeing media reports about the crime.Judge Simon Stone said White’s actions were clearly premeditated, deliberate and somewhat persistent.“There‘s no sensible explanation for your offending, although I note you … did harbour a negative opinion and attitude towards the police at the time.
