Unanimous support for the Voice among major political parties in Western Australia comes to an end after a change in heart from WA Liberal Leader Libby Mettam.

The Voice would be an independent body advising parliament and government about matters that affect the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

"What many Australians, and Western Australians, are hopeful of, is more detail on how this Voice — the Voice that has been proposed — will lead to some real practical outcomes," she said.Former Aboriginal Affairs Minister, Stephen Dawson, has questioned whether Liberal powerbroker Nick Goiran had an influence on Ms Mettam's stance.
