West Australians face being trapped indefinitely within their own state after Premier Mark McGowan broke his promise to reopen the state's borders next month.
The premier had promised to reopen the borders once the state's double-dose vaccination rate reached 90 per cent. It is currently at 89 per cent.More compassionate exemptions will be granted from 5 February, when the hard borders had been due to be brought down. "If we proceeded with the original plan, we would be deliberately seeding thousands upon thousands of COVID cases into WA and at this point in time, that is not what I'm going to do," Mr McGowan told reporters.

If I had too choose between free agency or being protected from Covid, I would choose free agency every time! Once you go down that road of removing individual free agency, Covid will pale in significance to the catastrophe that awaits!

Dom treats EXPERT health advise with the same importance as him receiving advice on what tie to wear. Mark's decision to delay opening to omicron will save lives and protect economy in the West.
Regional WA doesn't have the capacity to manage acute cases. If we have an outbreak of the same proportions as NSW, there simply aren't enough planes to fly everyone back to Perth. That's the reality of living in a state the size of WA. A tough decision but one that makes sense.
