Australia’s peak medical lobby has warned against vulnerable people booking cruises after a COVID-19 outbreak occurred on board a vessel docked at Broome, days after Western Australia lifted its interstate recreational cruise ship ban.

His comments come after at least 12 of the 72 people aboard the Coral Discoverer tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday and were forced off the ship and into hotel isolation. Under WA’s new cruise ship rules, signed on April 22, cruise ship operators must submit a declaration stating they will cover the travel and accommodation costs of any COVID-positive or close contact passengers who need to disembark the ship and isolate.A WA Health spokesman said the department was providing health advice to the vessel.
